Working together!?!

Today I took a little break from my break and did a school thing.

I drove to Loyola Medical Center for an interdisciplinary simulation -- basically practicing being a nurse with people who are practicing being doctors. This is a new thing, even though doctors and nurses have worked together forever. And it was excellent. 

We got to see that medical students are just as nervous as nursing students. And that med students don't know how to do a lot, besides decide what should be done. And that med students are OK with nurses correcting them, which is good.

We talked about speaking up when something doesn't seem right. We talked about listening to each other. We talked about stopping what we do sometimes to check in with each other. 

There was free pizza and the afternoon was actually pretty cool. It's pretty refreshing to know that doctors are just as nervous as the rest of us.
