I'm feeling strong these days...
- Strong as a woman with Type 1 diabetes as I read Six Until Me - it's a delight to read about someone else's diabetes quirks (frustration about lows, highs and itchy pump sites). Plus Kerri just had a baby girl and is nursing (one more amazing-strong thing a woman can do! zoinks!) - bravo, says Mandasaurus.
- Strong as someone about to dive into something new. My last day at work is June 4. I start Chem 212 and Bio 121 June 7. I get married July 24. I finish Chem 212 and Bio 121 July 30. I'm the tiniest bit scared and pretty nervous, but I'm too in love with science and my new life to care.
- Strong as a runner. Not a great runner, or a very regular runner (d'oh!), but a runner who's in for 10 miles on May 29. I'm reading Born To Run, too. It's awesome. I'm hoping to be light on my feet as I run down Lake Shore Drive like a happy kid, which is the best way to run, they say. I'm half-considering barefoot running... but that's another adventure.
B sent me a beautiful calla lilly plant for my 26th birthday almost 4 years ago. We've kept those bulbs around and every spring they burst to life. They're climbing to nearly a foot high as I type. They're neat plants - they just chill out all winter long as gross little bulbs. And in the spring we toss 'em in a big pot of dirt. A few weeks later, towering, strong lilies.
