Whoa! 7 weeks along...

Daily is 7 weeks old!

We've been busy -- thankfully Daily likes to get out and see the world. It's really been an incredible summer for us -- lots of walks, lots of visits and getting to know the new member of the family. Here's what we know so far...

She has not (yet) inherited her mother's love of sunglasses. 

She loves to read stories before bed.

She even loves Murphy's Pub in Champaign, Illinois. 

Well, really, Daily doesn't know what she loves. She's a baby. But we've loved every minute of life with D.

A few weeks ago we started getting real smiles and it's like a drug! Sometimes when we stare at each other it seems like she'll nod back at me if I nod at her (that may be her just trying to hold up her heavy noggin). 

We are finding our new normal -- sharing baby responsibilities, getting on some sort of schedule, getting out of the house more often and enjoying time as a family. 

What's next?

• We're going to a White Sox night game tomorrow -- hopefully the breastfeeding-in-public gods shine goodness upon me so D is a content sports fan.
• With a bunch of friends we are having a big hangout at Promontory Point (on the lake, gorgeous views, perfect picnicking spot) on Sunday. For the menu I'm seriously considering chicken salad sandwiches/crackers and Arnold Palmers. And fruit salad because summer fruit is ridiculous these days. Yum.
• B & his brother head to Costa Rica next Friday. D & I will retreat to my parent's house (the Resort) where we get extra love, extra good food and a little break from the noisy city.
