- Friday afternoon stroll to Wrigley Field for a few innings of baseball -- the friendly confines feel air-conditioned year-round, which is almost alway great. On Friday the shady seats were freezing. We drank a few beers, enjoyed some chips with queso from Qdoba in the ballpark (yum!) and cheered on a few runs. Then we hit the road.
- Friday evening we had pizza then saw The Avengers in 3D. I was very uninterested in the 3D stuff, but it was pretty cool. And maybe looking good in 3D glasses means I'll look good in regular eyeglasses, right?
- Saturday we relaxed! I studied and watched food shows on public television. In the midst of food programs we decided to celebrate B's birthday weekend with some new dishes inspired by the shows:
- Meatloaf for dinner tomorrow! I've been a long-time anti-meatloaf gal, but every time I open my mind about food I'm happy, so here we go.
- Either potato wedges or couscous for our dinner carb.
- Amazing (like seriously, amazing) chopped salad for dinner tonight. This salad took like 15 minutes to put together maybe. And we gobbled up our half-batch in a speedy way. It reminds me of special/spacial salads you get at good Italian spots. And we could totally add some sausage to the mix next time. My blog is not a food blog, but this salad was excellent and I hope you try it!
- Some kind of awesome breakfast to ring in B's 35th birthday.
- We watched Date Night this evening. It was really awesome fun and I didn't think I would love it and totally did. It was so funny I spit wine out. For real. And, I want to watch it again, even though I think B has sealed it up to Netflix it back to Netflix

I'm excited to celebrate my awesome husband, though I do need to devote some time to the books tomorrow too. Springtime in Chicago is lovely -- for walking, for open windows, for awesome cooking, for enjoying the green leaves on the trees outside our windows.
Lastly, I promise to post some photos of our place to document my progress with cleaning/organizing/making sense of this place during our second year here. During my break I'll do that and probably brag about all the fun I have with ginger beers, my B and Chicago.
Happy spring happy friends!

let me know your meatloaf recipe. I hated meatloaf for SO LONG until I became an adult and took a stab at making it myself. Now I think my meatloaf recipe rocks and I love it. Yum!
